5th Anniversary in Hood River

Time flies when you are having fun. I can't believe that we have been married for 5 years now. It seems like our wedding was just yesterday. We had the chance to take off for the weekend so we went to Hood River this year. It is nice having our anniversary next to a major holiday because you get a day off or two. Jeff had a 3 day weekend!! Hood River is a fun little town. On Friday, the 3rd, the day of our anniversary it was the town's 1st Friday. It is kind of like a Saturday market that happens on the 1st Friday of every month. First, we had a nice dinner out and then walked around and enjoyed all the shops. There were little booths along the main street that were selling a variety of things and even some live music. It was fun to see all the different things that were out because it was "1st Friday." The hotel that we stayed at is right by the marina in Hood River. On the 4th they did a big fireworks show that we could just walk to. It was nice to not have to fight any traffic. We also walked down to enjoy all the people windsurfing and kite boarding. It was very hot in Hood River all weekend but the breeze down by the water was nice. Our last day in Hood River we did a little letterboxing and found 3 out of the 4 we were looking for (one was missing). To get out of the heat we took the tour of the Full Sail Brewery. On the way home we decided to stop at Bonneville Dam and the fish hatchery and have a look around. We got to see Herman the Sturgeon, the hatchery's mascot. That is one huge fish. He is about 10 feet long and over 60 years old. The picture we took just doesn't show how huge he is.
